Whether you are building a new home or just remolding an older home, certifying your home green makes sense through lower energy bills and healthier living. Through research and technology we have found that old standards require new ways of thinking. We have become more aware of the environment and our surroundings and how it affects us in our daily lives. Living green is good, but why not get credit for it?
All the greenness and energy efficiency that can be performed in a home is wasted if it is not recognized by a national certifying program. Make sure you get the credit for going green and in the process save money on operations and increase the re-sale value of your home. If you do not get verified by a third-party then you cannot get the recognition of having a green home. Verification cannot be performed at a later date and must coincide with the remodel or building process. We offer green verifications for very little costs. These costs can be recouped within the first year of living in the home!

LEED is referenced in project specifications for 71 percent of projects valued at $50 million and over5
675.9 million square feet of real estate space became LEED certified in 2014, the largest area ever to become LEED certified in a single calendar year, and a 13.2 percent increase in total certified square-footage from 2013. 2015 looks to be another record-breaking year with 2,870 projects certified representing nearly 464 million square feet of real estate as of August 1, 2015.
Achieving LEED certification is a top sustainable goal for both private and public organizations, with LEED Gold certification being set as the goal for a majority of the organizations
SERVICES
There are two types of certifiable homes: An Energy Efficient Home and a Green Home. Energy efficiency is only one component of a green home. However, in order to have a certified green home, you have to go beyond energy efficiency and into a home’s total sustainability (aka carbon footprint). A certified green home looks at the “total energy consumption” of the home from the beginning of building process to the post-construction operational costs. Like the cycle of human life, from beginning to end, a home has a life cycle too.
Having a green home requires a thorough inspection. New home projects consist of two phases: a rough and final inspection. (Remodel path for homes older than 1980 require different procedures)Each step requires communication and documentation with the builder and/or remodeler. Not all homes will qualify, but the builder and verifier can check ahead of time by using the NAHB Green Scoring tool which can be found atwww.nahbgreen.org. Contact us for more detailed information about getting started.
We typically use a flat rate payment system for ease of use and budgeting. We have services that go beyond those listed below and can assist with questions concerning other third-party services. Just contact us for specific questions atinfo@greenbuilder360.com.
